The Trustees

The Trust has three trustees at present:
Mr. Brian Johnson Director

Brian is a licensed insolvency practitioner and a principal in the London accountancy firm of H W Fisher & Co. (Fishers). He originally trained with Coopers &
Trustees Brian Johnson and Shelagh Urwin
Lybrand, spent 13 years in practice with them and now has 22 years experience in the accountancy profession. Fishers have a growing charity department assisting a number of charities with governance, regulation, internal systems, financial planning and undertaking audits. In addition, the practice is on the Receivers and Managers panel of the Charity Commission. This experience and knowledge bank will be of great assistance to the Trust as it grows and develops. Brian attended the first show put on by Mel Upton and Shine Theatre Group’s first official show in 1999 and has always been an avid supporter of the work and aims of the Trust.

Shelagh Urwin is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and has worked in London and the South East with children and adults with a wide range of communication needs. Shelagh also has additional experience in teaching and research mainly at City University and has published articles and books on aspects of Speech and Language Therapy 1982-1997. Shelagh became involved with Shine Theatre Group through her children and has worked backstage for Shine from the first show in Mel’s sitting room in 1998. She has been actively involved in developing ’singing and signing’ with Shine Theatre Group.
Having been an intrinsic part in the formation of the Trust, Shelagh resigned as trustee and Company Secretary at the AGM in 2009.  Those posts have been filled by Mr. Tim Claringbull.

aughan has always been involved with children.  Since leaving her job as a Paediatric ward sister and having five childen of her own, she has occupied her time doing voluntary work for various charities. She was branch secretary for the national charity National Association for Maternal and Child Welfare, spent 15 years serving, in several capacities, on pre-school management committees and school PTAs. Shaughan volunteers as a drama assistant for Shine Theatre Group and backstage in productions.

Shine Theatre Trust is a charity set up to provide a home and support inclusive theatre in Sussex. Our patrons are Greta Scacchi and Judy Parfitt.
